Dance, Contact Improvisation

(also known as CI) is a movement meditation and form of improvisational post-modern dance, started at Oberlin College by a group of experimental dancers, including Steve Paxton & Nancy Stark Smith.

upon writing in 2024, this form has a deep community of practitioners and experimentors spread across the globe.

for me, this is a very rich practice, which has shifted how I inhabit my body, and relate to other humans & the earth.

that is why I’m excited to share it with you.

I have been dancing CI since 2019, have been teaching since 2023, and have studied with many fabulous teachers myself, including Irene Sposetti & Alicia Grayson.

some other elements we develop in contact improv:

  • bodily awareness & non-verbal communication

  • unveiling subconscious relational patterns

  • emobodied consent

  • curiosity and play

currently I am mostly living and teaching on Lenape - Storied Land, where we now call the Hudson Valley of NY
